SYMPHONIC CONVERGENCE

2017-2024

PARTS

TO THE WHOLE

The paintings within this series convey the concept of individual parts coming together in harmony. The concept came from recognizing the correlating qualities between musical and visual concepts. The paintings contain musical elements and abstraction of instrumental forms. Sound could be translated as color, notes as hue, rhythm as repetition of shapes and volume changes as movement. The artist found parallel qualities between musical compositions and human relationships which was explored and translated to visual concepts: symphony as a community, quartet as a family and duet as a couple. In observing an orchestra, a band or any group of instruments, it is noticeable that each individual instrument makes a unique color of sound. Two saxophones may be playing the same note, but they won’t hold a same timbre.  In musical compositions, various sounds come in and out at different times and merge together with others, matching in volume and pace to create one, beautiful symphony. Symphonic Convergence is the artist’s attempt in sharing the hope for humanity: where unique individuals with differences work together in finding balance and peace instead of trying to outshine others and creating conflicts.
